avenue west of 280. nick smith has more from the scene. >> it was a shock. >> reporter: friends and relatives of the victims gathered at the spot the loved ones lost their lives. >> she is their friend and at the hospital because she was with them, too. >> relatives declined to go on camera but several family members have yet to be told what happened. they lit candles near where the crash happened. they received a report of a major accident just after 8:00 p.m. last night. when they got there they found three people dead, a fourth passenger in the same car was taken to the hospital with major injuries. the driver of the second vehicle was not hurt. police have been tight-lipped saying the cause of the accident who was at fault whether or not speed was a factor are all other investigation. >> to have three people killed, they had to be moving pretty

has managed the apartment complex for 20 years and knew the victims. this stretch he says has a history of drivers moving up and down the street faster than the posted 20 miles an hour limit. >> there is no reason for it to happen here. >> reporter: the coroner's office has yet to release the name or ages of the victims. daly city police are leading the investigation and may provide more information tomorrow. >> ama: oakland police are searching for the person that shot and killed a san francisco man. he was shot to death around 3:00 this morning near ninth and clay street. 37-year-old man was in his car when he got disputed in another vehicle. they shot him and crashed his car and died. this marked oakland's 17th homicide as of this year. >> family and friends of missing woman are taking to the streets

the number of households of guns have dropped drastically since the '70s. in the 70s, 50% of american households had a gun, now, 34%

have one gun. there could be several reasons, guns are introduced to americans through military service but just a small portion of americans serve in the military today. also more americans are living in cities than rural areas where gun ownership is more frequent. google introduced a concept talking shoo-in austin, texas yesterday. it's part of the the advertising project which is designed to help clients see the creative potential of google technology. inside each shoe is a small computer, pressure sensor and speaker and bluetooth. shoe can tell you what you are doing and not doing. it can relay that information as a message to you or trainer or an opponent on the basketball court. it's only a concept shoe. a rare group of whales in southern california.

area overnight tonight. you can see a batch already toward point reyes and slowly sag south. it won't be all together clear near the coast as we wake up tomorrow. we will see a little bit of he cloudiness there. satellite shoh pressure building in. this is the storm track, everything stays to the north of us. as the high gets closer to us the next couple of days, we'll look for more warming, gradual warming through tuesday and wednesday. in fact here is a look at highs back up into the 70s in san jose. 71 degrees. santa clara 70 degrees. peninsula looking nice, menlo park 70. san francisco wake up with a few clouds and afternoon sunshine, 64 degrees. north bay, upper 60s to mid to low 70s. 70 sonoma and 69 for vallejo and east bay hayward, 57. 70 for oakland. look for 72 for concord.
